Ilias Athanasiadis

Μedical oncologist, director of oncology clinic

Dr Ilias Athanasiadis is Ass. Professor of Oncology Northwestern University Chicago and the Director of Oncology Clinic at MITERA hospital since 2011.  Dr Athanasiadis received his medical Diploma on 1983 from Athens Medical School and he completed his fellowship in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology in the Alexandra Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine / MD Anderson Cancer Center, abd the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University in Chicago. Since 1994 is a Visiting Faculty Member – Assistant Professor at H. Lurie Cancer Center/ Northwestern University. He has been awarted the ASCO 1993 special investigator award as clinical researcher, for pioneering clinical trial regarding the combination of trans-retinoic acid and interferon-alpha  in metastatic non small cell lung cancer. He has been Director of the Oncology Clinic Euroclinic of Athens March 2004- August 2011.
Dr Athanasiadis is member in many Greek, European ans International Medical Societies, and member in the editorial board of Journal of Oncological Science. He is the President and Organiser of MDcON «MultiDisciplinary care in Oncology» conferences with international participation, from 2012 until today. He has also tought in many seminars for medical students and Young Oncologists, was Educational supervisor for Hellenic Boards of Oncology 2016-2017, the formal institution accredited by the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology, for the continuing education of young Medical Oncologists.
Dr Athanasiadis has been speaker and presenter in various international conferences and has presided over round-table discusions. He is Primary Investigator in many international clinical trials undergoing in the Medical Oncology Clinic. Dr Athanasiadis has been the author or co-author in many peer-reviewed scientific papers. His main clinical interests involve the areas of  Head and Neck Cancer, Breast Cancer, Gastrointestinal Cancer, Gynecological & Geniturinary Cancer, Sarcomas, Palliation and Supportive care, Novel treatments and Immuno-Oncology.
