Antonio Avenoso has 25 years of experience in the field of road safety policy, with 18 years as Executive Director of the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). He represents ETSC on high-level groups and is a regular keynote speaker at road safety conferences in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
He has led the organisation through several successful advocacy campaigns leading to key policy achievements, including the introduction of EU road safety targets and the General Safety Regulation. He has also managed major projects like PIN and EURSE (the European Road Safety Exchange), which have significantly influenced road safety work at both the national and EU levels.
Mr Avenoso has extensive professional experience of working groups involving large numbers of stakeholders including the ETSC Main Council, which encompasses members of some 60 organisations.
He is a member of the French “Conseil National de la Sécurité Routière”.
He has also worked in the “Railway and Interoperability Unit” of the Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission.
Mr Avenoso holds an academic degree cum laude in Political Science from the University of Pavia and an M.Phil. in European Studies from the University of Cambridge.
