Assia Bensalah Alaoui

Dr Assia BenSalah Alaoui holds a PhD in law, Paris II University and a master in English studies.

Currently Ambassador at Large of his Majesty Mohamed VI, the King of Morocco. She is as well vice-president of the Association of Moroccan-Japanese Friendship, and BOT member of a number of institutions: The Orientation Council of the Royal Institute of Strategic Studies (IRES), Rabat, Morocco; The Moroccan-British Society; The International Advisory Board of The Bibliotheca Alexandrina and of the CITpax (Centro International de Toledo para la Paz). She is as well a member of the Council of the Paris based NGO Leaders pour la Paix and of the Jury of the Hassan II World Prise for Water.

Dr Assia Bensalah Alaoui is Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.

Former positions: Professor of international law and director of studies of the Centre for Strategic Studies; University Mohammed V, Rabat 1981-2005; co-president of the High Level Advisory Group on the Dialogue between Peoples and Cultures in the Euro-Mediterranean Area, editor of the "Romano Prodi Report", EU November 2003; member of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States’ advisory board, UN, New-York 2003-05; member of the "World Bank's council of advisers for MENA 1995-98; vice-chair of the Private Sector Committee - CGIAR - (1995-99) Washington, DC and member of the board of trustees of ICARDA, , Syria, 1994-2000); member of the international policy advisory board of “ARABTRANS” (EU Project on political, economic and social transformations in 7 Arab countries – 2014-16)

Dr Assia Bensalah Alaoui is the author of several publications, on diverse topics such as food security, security in the Mediterranean area, Euro-Mediterranean partnership, democracy process in the Arab world, intercultural dialogue, conflict prevention, climate change and sustainable development.
