Christina Tarnanidou

Christina Tarnanidou is a 27-year high level legal expert in commercial and financial law. Consulted intensively for financial institutions, stock exchanges and other financial market infrastructures and enterprises. Legal counsel since 1999 in the financial markets sector (Athens Exchange Group: ATHEX, ATHEXCSD, ATHEXClear), with participation in various EU associations (e.g. ECSDA). She has a strong expertise in regulatory affairs of the financial sector and co-operates with the EU system (European Commission, ECB – T2S), policymakers and authorities (ESMA, HCMC).

Chaired the Greek Legislative Committee on the Regulation (EU) 909/2014 (CSDR), concluded a series of regulatory/compliance works in EU law (e.g. MiFIDII, CSDR, EMIR, SRDII, SFTR, SSR, FCD, SFD) and all regulations of ATHEXGROUP and ENEXGROUP (HENEX, EnExClear) as well as the reform of the energy market in Cyprus. Co-operated with the Ministry of Finance on the policy making and drafting of the corporate governance law (L4706/2020).

Academic member of European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) Post-Trading Standing Committee – Consultative Working Group (2021–2024), and Investment Management Standing Committee – Consultative Working Group (2019–2021), academic member of the expert group of the European Commission: expert group on conflict of laws regarding securities and claims, European Commission, Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (2017–2018), standing member of the “Financial Market Law Committee” (London) (2020–present) (indicatively).

As senior partner and team leader at Sardelas Petsa Law Firm she concluded a series of transactions and regulatory, authorisation and consulting projects (MiFIDII, CSDR, EMIR, SRDII, SFTR, SSR, FCD, SFD, DORA, MiCA, PPAs – Energy Exchange projects) and has an active role in supporting modern works in the above and other related fields. She is leading and supervising a team of lawyers and senior level legal experts in the law firm with high-level expertise in the financial sector and commercial business and transactions.
