George Demetriou

Energy Representative

George Demetriou is a graduate of the London School of Economics, and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is the Vice President of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry responsible for the Services Sector and the spokesman of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry on energy matters. He is the managing director of Positive Consulting Ltd a consulting firm based in Cyprus, with local and international activities, specializing in corporate finance and business turnarounds. 
From 2004 until 2010 he was the first Chairman of the Cyprus Organisation for the Storage and Management of Oil Stocks (KODAP), the strategic oil reserves agency which Cyprus set up to fulfill its EU obligations in respect of strategic oil reserves with responsibilities for the organisation’s strategy and the creation, storage and financing of its oil reserves. As a result of the strategy developed, KODAP will now be one of the strategic partners of the government sponsored oil storage terminal in Cyprus.
He is the representative of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the Cyprus Regulatory Authority Committee on Renewables. He is an advisor to local and international oil and gas companies in various matters and he is the heading the research team of the Chamber’s energy committee on matters related to the gas exploration of Cyprus, the regulatory infrastructure required and the benefits and opportunities to local and international companies.
