Dimitrios Papadopoulos

Mr Dimitrios Papadopoulos holds a master’s degree in political science and has been graduated from the National School of Public Administration. He has a solid educational background and a great experience in various public policy fields, obtained during his service in public administration over 20 years now.

Since 2013 he has been working for the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC), focusing on various fields and aspects of the gaming regulatory and public management policies. He is one of the main contributors in the crucial effort to organize, finalize and implement gaming regulatory regime in Greece. Since 2020, he holds the position the head of Regulations Directorate and from 2021 the position of the chief operations officer of the HGC. He has also served as the head of Licensing Directorate (2017-19) and the head of the Compliance Directorate  (2016-17) of the HGC. Since 2018 he has been representing the HGC in the Hellenic Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

With a focus on creating regulatory frameworks that reflect the highest standards, his efforts ensured efficient operations and responsible gaming environments. His vision is to enhance the gaming industry’s integrity through robust public policy, market research, leading projects and initiatives that drive innovation and leverage a protective, responsible and viable business environment both of the online and land-based gaming landscape.

He is 56 years old, married with one kid.
