Evangelos Marinakis

Evangelos Marinakis is an international businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He initially established his reputation in the shipping industry, and has since diversified investments into sectors including sports, media and entertainment, consumer services, energy, and real estate.

Mr Marinakis is the founder and chairman of Capital Maritime & Trading Corp. The Capital Maritime Group currently controls a fleet of 186 vessels with a total capacity of 20 million dwt, approximately, spanning the tanker, container, LNG, LPG/Ammonia, LCO2, offshore, and dry bulk segments. The fleet under management includes the vessels of Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp. (NASDAQ: CCEC) and Capital Tankers Corp. (Euronext Growth: CAPT).

Mr Marinakis is the founder and majority shareholder of Alter Ego Media, the largest media and entertainment group in Greece and one of the fastest-growing integrated media platforms in Southern Europe. Listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, Alter Ego Media has undergone a remarkable transformation and expansion in recent years, building a fully diversified ecosystem across publishing, broadcasting, digital media, content creation and live entertainment. The group owns and operates leading news media, major TV assets, premium digital platforms, and is rapidly expanding in live entertainment.

Mr Marinakis is the owner of Olympiacos FC, the most popular football club in Greece; Nottingham Forest FC in the English Premier League; and Rio Ave FC in Portugal. Under his guidance, Olympiacos FC secured 19 major trophies and made history in the 2023–24 season by becoming the first Greek club to win a European title, and the first in UEFA history to win both the UEFA Europa Conference League and the UEFA Youth League in the same season. As owner of Nottingham Forest FC, he led the club back to the Premier League in 2022 after a 23-year absence and oversaw its subsequent qualification for European competition via the UEFA Europa League.

Mr Marinakis actively supports various charitable and cultural causes globally. Key initiatives include the “Miltiadis Marinakis Endowed Professorship for Modern Greek Language and Culture” at Ohio State University, the Kazantzakis Museum in Crete, and partnerships with UNICEF. His philanthropic efforts focus on improving societal well-being, advancing education, and preserving cultural heritage.
