Evangelos Mytilineos

Chairman and chief executive, Metlen Energy & Metals, president, Eurometaux

Evangelos Mytilineos is the chairman and chief executive of METLEN Energy & Metals, a global leader in the industrial and energy sectors with a strong presence across all five continents. Born in Athens, Evangelos Mytilineos holds a BSc in economics from the University of Athens and an MSc in economics from the London School of Economics. In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Department of Business Administration and Management at the University of Piraeus.

In 1978, Evangelos Mytilineos took over the family business and transformed it into what is now METLEN Energy & Metals (formerly MYTILINEOS). In 1990, he established MYTILINEOS Holdings Group. With strategic acumen, Evangelos Mytilineos expanded the company by acquiring the majority shareholding of metal construction company METKA S.A. and Aluminium of Greece. In 1995, he listed the Group on the Athens Stock Exchange.

 

In the early 2000s, the company entered the energy sector. Under his leadership, METLEN has since evolved into the largest independent, fully integrated utility in Greece and a global Energy Transition Platform. In 2017, Evangelos Mytilineos led a major corporate restructuring, merging all major subsidiaries into a single entity. In 2022, a new transformation resulted in the formation of MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals. In 2024, the company entered a dynamic new chapter, rebranding and adopting its current identity: METLEN Energy & Metals.

 

In 2024, Evangelos Mytilineos was re-elected president of Eurometaux, the European association for non-ferrous metals. He has also served five terms as vice-president of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, representing 400 of Greece’s largest corporations.
