Federico Milani  is the deputy head of the Data Policy and Innovation Unit of the Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT).Â
The unit supports the data economy in the Digital Single Market through policy initiatives addressing new and emerging issues, such as data ownership and brokerage or open data policies. Aside from ensuring the correct implementation of the Public Sector Information Directive, the unit is also responsible for steering the strategic research and innovation agenda together with the industry sector.
Mr Milani has previously worked not only as a project officer and a researcher, making accessible European digital content since October 2001, but also as deputy head of unit for several field-related units: eContent and Safer Internet, Cultural Heritage and Technology Enhanced Learning and lately the Data Applications and Creativity Unit, supporting the creative industry sectors and the Europeana project since 2008.
Mr Milani’s academical background comprise a PhD in Neural Networks and Intelligent Systems (University of Aston) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Control and Software Engineering (University of Padova).
