Gabriela Alvarez Minte, is the regional gender adviser for UNFPA’s Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. An international development practitioner that has worked extensively in the United Nations System at rational and country level. She specialises in gender and development and has more than 20 years of experience in the international cooperation system in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia and globally, working on women’s empowerment, gender norms and the promotion and protection of the rights of women and girls.
She has a PhD in development studies from Birkbeck, University of London, and she has been part of international academic seminars guest lecturer and has published academic papers. She holds and Social Anthropology degree from Universidad de Chile, a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Oxford (Green Templeton College).
