Georgios Kormas

George I. Kormas is an economist, senior adviser at Resolute Cepal Greece and vice-chairman of the board of directors at Resolute Group Greece, providing strategic leadership, high-level governance, and expert guidance in real estate advisory and asset management for financial institutions and private equity investors.

Prior to this, he was executive general manager, group chief real estate of Piraeus Bank Group. He was also the CEO of Piraeus Real Estate as well as of Picar, chairman of the BoD of Piraeus Leasing and Piraeus Leases, all of which are real estate subsidiaries of Piraeus Bank Group. He was a member of the executive committee of the bank and participated in the senior credit and recovery credit committee and other real estate related investment committees.

Prior to joining the Piraeus Bank Group, Mr Kormas served as adviser to the governor of Bank of Greece and had previously worked at the European Central Bank. During his tenure at the Bank of Greece, he was responsible for co-ordinating European affairs. In parallel, he acted as the national representative in a high-level decision-making body that designed and established the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), assuming overall coordination and operational oversight of all major Bank of Greece projects related to the implementation of the new European supervisory framework. Furthermore, he was the lead executive for all stress tests and AQR exercises of the Greek banking system from 2011 to 2015, guiding the processes for assessing asset quality and determining capital needs across all Greek banks.

Mr Kormas has twenty years of experience in the banking sector, as well as in regional development, real estate and tourism. He is a RICS Fellow (FRICS) and holds a Vordiplom in Economics and Management Sciences and a Diploma (MS) in Business Administration, Banking and Finance from Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen in Germany.
