Constantine An. Tassoulas

President of the Hellenic Republic

Constantine An. Tassoulas was born in Ioannina in 1959. He is married with two children. He is a member of the Athens Bar Association, he studied at the Athens School of Law and worked from 1988 to 1989 at a legal practice in London on a British Council scholarship. In 2006 he was appointed deputy parliamentary spokesperson of New Democracy by the prime minister. In 2007 he was appointed deputy minister of national defence.

In February 2010 he was elected secretary-general of the parliamentary group of New Democracy. In 2014 he was appointed minister of culture and sports, a post he held until January 2015. In 2018 he was appointed general rapporteur of New Democracy for the revision of the constitution. In 2019 he was elected president of the Hellenic Parliament. He was re-elected president of the Hellenic Parliament in May 2023. He was elected president of the Hellenic Parliament for a third time in July 2023. On February 12th 2025 Constantine An. Tassoulas was elected president of the Hellenic Republic by the Hellenic Parliament and assumed office on March 13th 2025.
