Maja Andjelkovic is a senior innovation and entrepreneurship specialist with the World Bank Group. Between 2013 and 2017, she led the Bank’s global programme for digital entrepreneurship, where she developed a method for systematic analysis of entrepreneurship ecosystems and piloted new entrepreneurship support instruments such as XL-Africa.com, which won the president’s Award for Excellence.
Since 2017, she has been leading innovation projects in Europe and central Asia. Prior to 2013, she was the World Bank’s counselor for Canada. Previously, she worked as product manager in a sentiment analysis startup in Toronto, and adviser to the International Institute for Sustainable Development, where she initiated IISD’s work on Internet governance. She completed her doctorate at the Oxford Internet Institute, where her work on "Mimetic Processes in Entrepreneurship Ecosystems" was supported by the Oxford University Press Clarendon Fund.
