Marios Themistocleous is the deputy minister of health of Greece. He graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and he has a PhD at the Medical School of the University of Athens and a Master of Science in management of health units. He served as the secretary-general of primary health care from 2020 to 2023 and as the coordinator of the vaccination programme against covid-19.
He has also served as president of the National Central Health Procurement Authority, member of the coordination and monitoring committee of the government’s policy for the covid-19 pandemic, president of the chief committee of the Pension and Health Insurance Fund (TSAY) and vice-president on the board of directors of ETAA (Unified Fund of the Self Employed).
As a neurosurgeon, Marios Themistocleous has worked in hospitals in the United Kingdom, at “Evangelismos” General Hospital, and as registrar A at the Neurosurgical Clinic of “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital.
