Martin joined the ECB in 2001. He worked in various positions in DG-Economics, the ECB Representation at the Internal Monetary Fund in Washington DC and DG-Macroprudential Policy & Financial Stability. He also leads the ECB team for Greece.
During his career at the ECB, he was extensively involved in country issues, including in many central and Eastern European EU Member States and in programme countries. Martin has published on the role of credit in economic activity, the economic implications of uncertainty and cross-border capital flows. He worked previously at the Bank of Canada and De Nederlandsche Bank, where he started his career.
Martin holds a Master’s degree in monetary economics and studied at the universities of Groningen and Siena.
