The Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis Anthimos (born Christos Koukouridis), Most Venerable and Exarch of Rhodope, was born in 1962 in Alexandroupolis.
He received his degree from the Ecclesiastical School of Xanthi, the Zarifios Pedagogical Academy of Alexandroupolis and the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He was ordained deacon in 1985 and presbyter in 1989. From 1990-2004, he was Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis.
On October 6, 2004 he was elected Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis and on the 9th of the same month he was ordained as its Bishop. On November 5, 2024 he was enthroned in Alexandroupolis.
In June 2016, he participated in the official Delegation of the Church of Greece in the Holy and Great Pan-Orthodox Synod in Crete.
