Nikos Stathopoulos (PhD) is an engineer and an economist. He has over 30 years of experience in large-scale technical and social public networks and services, and more than 20 years in international management, consulting and governance positions.

Currently, since 2015, he has been a strategic adviser to the president and CEO of ELGEKA/DIAKINISIS. Amongst other positions, he has served as secretary-general at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks (2012-15), as well as director of research at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Paris-France, (2010-12). Furthermore, Nikos Stathopoulos, has been executive president of the board of the three companies ELOT-ESYD-EIM (2009-10) and director of strategy at the cabinet of the minister of development, energy and industry (2009), as well as director of strategy at cabinet of the minister of transportation and telecommunications (2007-09). He has also served as president of the board of TRAM SA (2007-09), CEO of RATP HELLAS SA (2003-07), member of the board and delegate director for the RATP of the company Proastiakos (2004-06), president of the board and COO of EQUIVAL SA (2005-07) and senior vice president – deputy CEO and COO of RATP DEV for East Europe, Balkans and East Mediterranean countries (1999-2007).

He has also been an invited lecturer of the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (1989-90), professor of management at the University d'Évry-Val-d'Essonne (1992-93) and invited professor at high ranking engineering and management schools in Europe (ENPC, EPFL, ENSPTT, Polytechnico di Milano) (1993-96).
