Peter Bofinger

Εconomist, former member of the German Council of Economic Experts

Since 1991, Peter Bofinger has been professor for monetary and international economics at the University of Würzburg. Since 2020 he has been a senior professor. From 2004 to 2019 he was a member of the German Council of Economic Experts the main advisory body of the German Government. Previously he had been vice-president of the University of Würzburg and an economist at the Deutsche Bundesbank. He is a research fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research and a senior research fellow of the Institute of the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK). Peter Bofinger is the chairman of the Almuni Association of the University Würzburg. 

His research is on monetary theory and policy with a focus on the digitalization of money and the modeling of the financial system. A special research focus is Schumpeterian growth theory. In addition to many papers in referred journals, he has published textbooks on monetary economics and on principles of economics.
