Peter Ceretti

Peter is an analyst in the Europe team in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Country Analysis vertical. His work focuses on macroeconomic and political analysis of southern European countries, particularly Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Malta.

Peter provides insight on the political, economic and business environments of these countries to corporations, policymakers and private clients. He is a speaker at client events and conferences, presenting both on Europe and The EIU’s global macro forecasts, and he is regularly interviewed by major television and print media outlets. In addition to producing EIU Country Reports and Country Forecasts, Peter contributes to The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Risk Briefing and Country Risk Service products, assigning operational risk scores and sovereign credit ratings to the countries in his portfolio.

Peter is an experienced analyst with a background in political risk consulting at Teneo Intelligence and Eurasia Group. At these firms, he advised institutional investors, corporate executives and government agencies on political and economic risk factors in the euro area, and particularly in Italy.

Peter holds an MSc with distinction in political economy of Europe from the London School of Economics and a BA in international relations and Italian studies, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
