Phidias Pilides is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London in 1974. He subsequently transferred to the firm in Cyprus and became a partner in 1983. From April 2002 to December 2011 he was the chairman and chief executive officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cyprus, employing approximately 1000 professionals. Phidias has been involved extensively with the affairs of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus of which he has served as president for two years (1999-2001). He has been honoured by the Institute for his outstanding contribution to its development. He has also served on the board and has been the chairman of the University of Cyprus from December 2003 until May 2008 and the first chairman of the Board of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Government sponsored) for 5 years until November 2011.
Phidias has served two 3 year terms, from November 2011 to November, 2017 as president of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Phidias Pilides has been appointed by the Council of Ministers a member of the Public Oversight Board for the Auditing Profession, a position in which he served until 2021 and deputy chairman of the Board of the Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission. The president of the Republic has appointed him in charge of the Technical Committee for Economic and Entrepreneurial matters relating to the intercommunal negotiations.
Currently, Phidias serves on the Board of Directors and Investment Advisory Committees of International Groups and family offices. He is the honorary consul of Mexico to Cyprus. He has written many articles and publications and has been a presenter on a number of seminars on the “Role of Cyprus as a Regional Financial and Business Centre”.
