Radovan Fuchs was born in 1953 in Zagreb. After graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb, he completed his master’s degree in biomedical sciences and his PhD in biomedical sciences in the areas of pharmacology and toxicology at the Biomedical Centre, Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm, Sweden.
He worked as a research assistant at the Biomedical Centre in Uppsala and as a head researcher, science advisor and assistant to the director for international cooperation at the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health in Zagreb. In two terms he was assistant to the Minister of Science and Technology, State Secretary and special adviser to the President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. He was first appointed Minister of Science, Education and Sports in 2009, and was reappointed in 2020 and again in 2024.
He has published over 100 original scientific papers and co-authored 11 books in the fields of science and research, 10 of which have been published internationally. He speaks English, Russian and German. He is married and has two children.
Minister Fuchs is a member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and a member of the chairpersons of the Science and Education Committee of the HDZ.Â
