Stelios Angeloudis

Stelios Angeloudis was born in the Upper Town (Ano Poli) of Thessaloniki, where he currently lives. He graduated from the Law School of the Military Officers' Corps School (SSAS) and served in the Hellenic Armed Forces, attaining the rank of Captain before resigning to pursue a career as a practicing lawyer. In 1985, he earned a second law degree from the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specialising in Public Law.

He has served as special secretary for Sports for Macedonia and Thrace at the Ministry of Culture and as Secretary General for Commerce at the Ministry of Development, contributing to the development of major sports infrastructure projects and to the establishment of the institutional framework for e-commerce. His long-standing career has been closely associated with sport and the Olympic Movement. He has served as president of the Hellenic Handball Federation, has been a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee since 2001 and currently serves as its first executive vice president. He is also the founder and first president of the National Olympic Academy of Greece, a member of the Organising Committee of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and the founder of the first Olympic Museum in Greece.

In 2010, he was appointed chairman and chief executive of the Thessaloniki Port Authority. During his tenure, the regeneration of the city's First Pier was completed, the port was successfully reconnected with the urban fabric, and Thessaloniki emerged as a cruise tourism destination.

In October 2023, he was elected mayor of Thessaloniki. His administration has prioritised urban cleanliness, green spaces, school infrastructure, social cohesion, international outreach, and the modernisation and transparency of municipal governance.
