Mr Sunil Kapoor, partner and COO of OL Shipping Group, brings over four decades of maritime expertise. Graduating from the prestigious DMET, Calcutta with a degree in Marine Engineering, Mr Kapoor embarked on a remarkable career with the Shipping Corporation of India, sailing from 1981 to 1992, and serving as chief engineer in his final three years at sea.
In 1993, Mr Kapoor transitioned ashore, joining Lloyds Register as a surveyor. His journey continued in 1996 when he joined Fleet Management Limited in Hong Kong as a technical superintendent. Climbing the ranks to director, he oversaw technical management and supervised the construction of advanced vessels in Japanese and Korean shipyards.
In 2007, Mr Kapoor relocated to Cyprus to establish FML Ship Management's Nicosia branch. Under his leadership, the branch managed over 45 ships and handled operations in London, Turkey, and Dubai. His outstanding contributions were recognized in 2015 when FML Ship Management received the CIPA International Investment Award at the Presidential Palace.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Kapoor has played a crucial role in maritime education and community service. He was a board member of the Cyprus Maritime Academy, aiding its initial setup, and served as vice-president of the Cyprus Marine Club. From 2021 to 2023, he was elected to the board of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber. An active member of technical committees across major classification societies, he also represents the Cyprus Indian community in various cultural and social initiatives.
