Athanasios Plevris was born in Athens on May 21st 1977, He is an Orthodox Christian, married to Eleni Papatheologou Plevris and have two children, Niki and Konstantinos.
He is the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, member of Parliament for Athens A and Lawyer with a graduate degree from the Law School of the University of Athens and holds a postgraduate degree from the University of Heidelberg, Germany with a scholarship (2002) on “Patient consent according to Greek and German criminal law”. In 2006 he received his doctorate from the Law School of the University of Athens, Greece with a dissertation on “Criminal Liability in Medical Practice. Research and Experimentation with humans as the object”.
From 2019 until today, he is a member of the Hellenic Parliament for district A’ Athens with New Democracy. As member of the parliament he participated in the Special Parliamentary Committees to conduct a preliminary examination on the “Criminal Liability of Ministers”, Mr N. Pappas and Mr D. Papagelopoulos, in the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs and in the Special Standing Committee on Parliamentary Ethics and Social Security. He also participated in the Standing Committee on Social Affairs and the Special Standing Committee for the Monitoring of the Social Security System.
