Theodore Dalamagas

Dr Theodore Dalamagas is a principal researcher and vice-director of Information Management Systems Institute at ATHENA Research Centre. He is also founder of an upcoming spinoff, transferring research results on data-driven waste/by-product valorization into commercially exploited industrial data services.

He received his diploma in electrical engineering from the NTU Athens, Greece, his MSc in advanced information systems from Glasgow University, Scotland, and his PhD from NTUA. He has more than 10 years of R&D experience of working and coordinating R&D EU and national ICT projects related to scientific data infrastructures, scientific data management, linked data and ontologies, semantic annotation and retrieval, e.g., SLIDEWIKI (innovation action on open courseware IT, H2020), EXCELERATE (research infrastructure for life science data management, H2020), DIACHRON (large-scale integrating project on data evolution and preservation, FP7), LODGOV (research excellence for data web technologies, programme “ARISTEIA”, Greek SRT), AI4B (cooperation project on IT for biomass supply chain management, programme “SYNERGASIA”, Greek SRT).

His research interests include IT for bioeconomy, scientific databanks and research infrastructures, data web and information retrieval, interoperability and data integration, and bioinformatics. He has published more than 60 articles in international journals and conference proceedings. Google Scholar Citations reports more than 4000 citations to his work.
