Theofanis Tasis

Theofanis Tasis is a professor of information philosophy and digital humanism at the Ionian University and a visiting professor at the Alpen-Adria-Universität in Austria.

He has been a Stanley J. Seeger fellow at Princeton University, a Marie Curie fellow at Université Saint-Louis in Brussels, and a visiting professor at Freie Universität Berlin and Universität St. Gallen in Switzerland.

In his research, he develops digital humanism, focusing on the relationship between politics, ethics, artificial intelligence, and human enhancement, with central concepts being the iconistic subject, humannes, and the art of living.

His works Politics of the Art of Living: Irony (Eurasia Publications, 2012) and Castoriadis: A Philosophy of Autonomy (Eurasia Publications, 2007) have been awarded the Kaftantzoglio Prize of the University of Athens, while Digital Humanism: The Iconistic Subject and Artificial Intelligence (Armos Publications, 2019) was nominated for the State Essay Prize in 2020. His most recent book is Digital Humanism 2: Artificial Intelligence and the Art of Living (2025).
