Viorel Beltechi

Chief executive, Therme Group China, vice-president, energy and engineering, Therme Group Worldwide Executive Advisory Board

Viorel Beltechi is vice president of energy and engineering at Therme Group, and Founder and CEO of Therme MEP, the group's mechanical, electrical, plumbing and public health engineering design company. Viorel is also co-founder and shareholder of VoltLink Energy, an energy aggregator platform, and serves as vice president for Prosumer C&I at PATRES, the Employers' Organisation of Renewable Energy Producers in Romania.

With over a decade of experience managing engineering and energy companies, and more than seven years in investment consultancy and European funds, Viorel has built and led highly effective teams across both the public and private sectors. From 2014 to 2018, he was economic counsellor and head of the Trade and Economic Promotion Office at the Romanian Embassy in Beijing, and Romania's national representative to the EU Chamber of Commerce to China. He coordinated Romania's energy sector cooperation within the 16+1 CEEC-China framework and the Romanian Energy Center.

Earlier, Viorel was general director for Energy within Romania's Ministry of Energy, in charge of the country's energy investment programmes, both for the 2007–2013 and 2014–2020 financial periods, and served as Romania's representative to the Connecting Europe Facility Energy Committee. He began his career as an MEP design engineer, coordinating multisectoral teams on major water and energy infrastructure projects across both the public and private sectors.
