EUROPE AND THE ARAB WORLD:

MAY 5TH-6TH, 2014, ATHENS

STRENGTHENING POLITICAL, BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT TIES

The Arab revolutions have presented the European Union with a challenge for change. They also present a new vision for democracy, human rights and for the improvement of social, economic and cultural factors that will bring about political openness. The EU’s objective is to assist the Arab region’s economies and foster progress which will have a positive impact on the longer term stability and prosperity.

Furthermore, the Arab world is of strategic importance to the European Union, politically and economically so restoring investor confidence in the region’s transition states is crucial. To this end, business in the region needs to maintain a stable and predictable regulatory environment. Against this background, we are delighted to announce the organization of a major Economist conference in Athens entitled “Europe and the Arab World: Strengthening political, business and investment ties”.

This timely event is being held under the auspices of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the League of Arab States in Athens, on May 5th-6th, 2014, whereby high level officials and representatives from the European Union and the Arab world shall be invited to take part in an open, meaningful and constructive dialogue on the way ahead.

High ranking speakers from Egypt, Greece, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mauritania, Spain, Sudan, Palestine, Tunisia are being hosted in the Europe and the Arab world Summit.
