In a global setting dominated by geopolitical upheaval, energy and supply-chain crises, and the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic, Cyprus is carrying out a significant effort to strengthen its economy and expand co-operation in the fragile eastern Mediterranean region. The small but extrovert Cypriot economy has shown resilience to the above-mentioned crises and is among the top economies worldwide in terms of post-pandemic foreign direct investment (FDI) recovery. On the other hand, the country still faces challenges such as the need to reduce its reliance on the volatile international financial markets, encourage innovation and diversify its growth model.
This year’s annual event is extremely timely as the newly elected Cypriot Ministers will have the opportunity to present their government’s new priorities to attract foreign investment in the areas of energy, finance, technology, innovation and real estate. Moreover, distinguished personalities including Lord Hanney of Chiswick and John Ardill, vice-chairman Global Exploration of Exxon Mobil, will join as speakers for a meaningful conversation on the geopolitics and the investment opportunities of the region as seen through the eyes of the investors themselves.
It is against this setting that The Economist Group has great pleasure in organising the London Cyprus Investment Summit entitled “A new chapter ahead” scheduled to take place on June 9th, 2023 at the London Stock Exchange.
