GREECE’S AGENDA TO COMBAT CANCER IN A POST COVID-19 WORLD

March 17th 2022, Athens

With millions of new cases each year and the decrease of resources amidst the global covid-19 pandemic, cancer remains a public health priority. With efficient quality intervention, treatment, prevention and adequate access to healthcare systems, the cancer mortality rate may continue to sufficiently decline in the years to come. Ā Medical professionals, oncology healthcare providers, private researchers, physicians and experts strive to set the standard in cancer treatment. Oncology research is still ongoing and although the battle against cancer has yet to be over, significant improvements have been made for the prevention and treatment of this hard to tame disease.

It is against this backdrop that Economist Impact and Hazlis & Rivas, under the auspices of EOPE (Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology) have pleasure in organizing their second Annual event entitled ā€œGreece’s agenda to combat cancer in a post covid-19 world” on March 17th 2022 aiming to bring together high ranking officials from government, business, finance, NGOs and academia for an open discussion and stimulating dialogue. Participation of speakers and delegates will be with physical presence as per the covid-19 health protocols in place at the time of the event.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The progress of Europe’s beating cancer plan
  • Greece’s agenda to combat cancer in a post covid-19 world
  • Ground for action and collaboration between the EU and individual member states
  • Prevention: what are the steps?
  • The importance of early diagnosis
  • Disease management – survivorship
  • Case study roundtable: lung cancer
  • Keeping up with evolutions in cancer
